5Using Cayenne Pepper as a fat burner  Mar 04, 2010 By C. Peters
I recently read an article that eating cayenne pepper will help to burn excess fat from your diet. However, I do not enjoy eating spicy foods because of the negative effects it has on my digestive system. After a bit of research, decided to purchased Nature's Way Cayenne 40,000 H.U.(Heat Units) 450 mg. which is equal to HOT. Nature's Way also offers a 100,000 H.U. Extra Hot Cayenne for those not afraid of the spice. The container recommends taking 1 capsule three times per day with food but I was cautious and started with one per day. The label offers a caution that "if you suffer from heartburn, hiatal hernia, gastritis or puptic ucer disease, please consult your healthcare professional before using this product". After a few days, my roseca flaired up with a noticeable blister on my nose and a bit of indigestion appeared. I stopped taking the product until the sytems were gone and now take them in moderation following a fatty meal and have not had any difficulties. The product does make you feel "invigorated" as claimed but use caution when taking.

5Great for Hemorrhoids  Sep 05, 2010 By Amazon Regular
(I'm not a doctor) Embarrassing to talk about, but this product works wonders for hemorrhoids in conjunction with apple cider vinegar diluted with water applied topically. Let me be clear. This product is to be used orally and vinegar topically. Don't want to mix that up! Especially good to stop bleeding! Side effects include heart burn, especially when taken later in the evening. If you already have heartburn, I would probably avoid these pills! Also, seems to be a strong thermogenic. So, it will make you feel really hot sometimes, especially when you first take it. I'm a little less sure of its effects on your metabolism, but thats really hard to judge accurately.

3Not potent enough.  Feb 28, 2011 By TRYblood
I ordered these and the "extra hot" pills on the same day, these had Prime shipping so I was taking these for about 5 days before the hotter pills. Getting down to it, I couldn't feel a thing from these. I was kind of hoping for a warming sensation, but it just could not provide. If I were to purchase cayenne pills again, I would go straight to the hotter pills and skip these. I enjoy spicy food, but by no means am I immune to spice. I'm taking it for the fat-loss effects, but I do suffer from poor circulation as well, so it benefits multiple needs. I have noticed a difference in my physique in the week that I have been taking these as well as green tea extract from NOW foods. If you are accustom to spicy foods at all, just go for the 100k H.U. pills first.

4GERD sufferers use caution  Jan 26, 2011 By Dave
This product caused a cool burning sensation in my throat that grew stronger and then bothersome. My suggestion to those of you that have a problem stomach looking to give this a try is to dump half the capsule out first to see how your stomach will react on just half a capsule. Make sure you clean off the capsule after you put it back together or some of the pepper might be on the outside of the capsule burning your throat as it goes down. 2nd, take this capsule with a sensible meal (not too much, and certainly not too little). Do not drink a lot of water taking this capsule either. One 8oz glass should be sufficient as those with stomach issues might cause the contents to come back up the esophagus. 3rd, if you have any burning that is bothersome can be solved quickly with some whole milk or plain yogurt as I used initially until I adjusted. Just a few sips of milk helped me as I cannot drink too much of it or I will have reflux issues due to milk itself. I have a sensitive stomach and found the above helped me in being able to successfully handle the pepper. If you have GERD then start off with half a capsule and not the full amount to see how you will do. I was able to ramp up over the course of a couple of weeks with no problems. You should have no problems doing it this way.

***Update as of 8/4/2011***

I decided to buy Organic Cayenne Pepper (powder and not the capsules) from Amazon. I wanted to see if drinking it would be better. I was a little weary because I sometimes have a tickle cough that leads to dry heaves. I was afraid that the intense burning might trigger my severe tickle cough. I have sinus issues but the cayenne drink really help. It does appear that cayenne pepper drink will relieve a cough as they claim. Just use caution if you choose this route by not starting off with too much. They recommend starting with 1/4 teaspoon, but my throat was on fire with that amount. I had to cut it in half and it still was hot to me but bearable. One man claimed that the burning would only last 15 seconds, but it lasted several minutes for me. You will notice the burning calms down within 15 seconds, but the burning will continue for a few minutes if you drink water immediately after. Gargle with milk and swallow will quickly will relieve the burning sensation much quicker.

I decided to experiment with cayenne to see if it would lead to a spastic coughing spell. I refused any water or milk and the burn was virtually gone in about 10 minutes without the aid of water or milk. The only thing that I noticed was when I talked was to feel a cool burning sensation that was not unpleasant in the back of my throat. Now I drink a glass of water after taking the cayenne pepper drink and the burn only lasts a couple of minutes. I am learning that the more you take it the more your throat and body adjusts to it. The only thing that burned the longest were my lips, but it was not a bad burn. No problems whatsoever with my GERD. Just do not drink too much water or milk and you will be fine. If you try the cayenne drink then resist the urge to stop drinking half way through because you will sense a very warm sensation. If you stop then you will be drinking water/milk and probably will not finish the other half. Drink it all first.

Remember 1/4 TEAspoon is the recommended start. If you are a wimp like me when it comes to anything spicy then begin with half that amount. Ground pepper in the back of my throat makes me cough, but Cayenne did not. The water is a good way to make sure any cayenne powder is washed down. Water will not cool the burn in your mouth as only milk or bread will.
